Years ago, I bought an adapter for connecting my PS3 to an early DisplayPort-only monitor in the office, which worked pretty well, but it wasn’t cheap (quite a bit less these days however) and didn’t support all of the resolutions that native hdmi on a tv could. It should be technically possible, but I can’t imagine the cost of doing so, coupled with any inherent limitations likely to be presented, would make more sense then a good dedicated gaming display or TV. Indeed, due to the format conversions required, it really wouldn’t be the most efficient thing to go from the hdmi of the PS4/5 or Xbox to thunderbolt on the display.
